Kim C. Belin Joins Cooper Levenson, Attorneys at Law
CHERRY HILL, N.J. – Cooper Levenson is pleased to announce that Kim C. Belin has joined the firm. Belin, based in the firm’s Cherry Hill and Atlantic City offices, will concentrate on education law matters of every type for school boards and administrators, including matters relating to administrative law and hearings, policy development, labor and employment issues, staff relations, pupil rights and obligations, IDEA and Section 504 compliance, school construction, and contract procurement. “All of us here at the firm are impressed by Kim’s experience with and knowledge of the New Jersey education arena. We are very pleased to welcome her to the Cooper Levenson team,” said Kenneth J. Calemmo, Chief Operating Officer.
Belin has significant experience in a wide breadth of education law matters. She has served as Acting Director for the Office of the State Board of Education, New Jersey Department of Education, where she provided administrative support to the 13-member board that creates and develops educational policy for all school districts throughout the State of New Jersey. Belin also served as Manager of the Office of Compliance Investigation - New Jersey Department of Education and as Staff Attorney for the Bureau of Policy in the New Jersey Division on Civil Rights. In addition, in private practice, Belin has represented local boards of education, including charter schools, in matters of all types.
Belin was named Professional Lawyer of the Year by the New Jersey Commission on Professionalism in Law in 2002. She was appointed by the New Jersey Office of Attorney Ethics (OAE), to the District III-B Attorney Ethics Committee in 2008. She also serves on the Burlington Vicinage Advisory Committee on Minority Concerns and is a Master of the Anne E. Thompson Inn of Court. She is an active member of the Association of Black Women Lawyers.
Belin is a graduate of Rutgers Univeristy (B.A. 1983) and of Rutgers University School of Law (Juris Doctor 1986). In addition to her practice, Belin lectures as an adjunct professor at Rutgers University School of Law – Camden where she teaches advanced courses in education law and alternative dispute resolution designed for second and third-year law students.
