Brenda Young is Ocean City Heart Walk's Lifestyle Change Recognition Award Recipient

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. – Cooper Levenson is pleased to announce that Brenda Young has been recognized by the Ocean City Heart Walk with the Lifestyle Change Recognition Award.  Young received the award for making changes that improved her quality of life and health.

On Mother’s Day, May 10, 2009, Young suffered a heart attack at the age of 44.  Since that time she has lost 60 pounds through a proper diet designed by the Weight Watcher’s program and a dedicated exercise regime.  Aside from the more obvious physical changes, Young has altered her mental and emotional health.  To put it simply, she smiles a lot more.

"Before the heart attack, I was not very ‘in tune’ with my body or how I was feeling emotionally or physically and how that could affect my heart.  Now, I pay attention to how my emotions are affecting my physical strength,” said Young.



The 18th Annual Ocean City Heart Walk took place on May 22.  Well over 500 participants walked five miles along the Ocean City boardwalk in support of the American Heart Association (AHA).  The AHA’s mission is to build healthier lives, free of cardiovascular diseases and stroke, which rank as our nation's No. 1 and No. 3 killers.

The Ocean City Heart Walk is a local community service activity and advocacy effort to promote and safeguard healthy lifestyle choices including maintaining a heart-healthy diet and living actively.  Cooper Levenson’s Krista Zumbano and the firm’s Wellness Committee coordinated the firm’s involvement in the event.
