Cooper Levenson Attorneys to present at New Jersey Society of Certified Public Accountants event

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. -  Tax attorneys from Cooper Levenson law offices will present a breakfast seminar at a New Jersey Society of Certified Public Accountants event on Thursday, July 22 at 8 a.m. at the Greate Bay Country Club in Somers Point, NJ.  Speakers include: Robert E. Salad, Esq., Jill T. Ojserkis, Esq., Joseph C. Mahon, Esq. and Ronald A. Wagenheim, Esq.  The program will cover the following topics:

     • The Patient Protection and Affordable Act, signed into law by President Obama on March 23, 2010, and the Healthcare and Education Affordability Act of 2010, signed into law on March 30, 2010.  The requirements that must be met by businesses, as well as taxes and penalties that will now be imposed will be addressed.
     • The federal estate and gift tax legislation process in 2010 and beyond.  The ramifications of the New Jersey estate tax as well as step up in basis will also be explored.
     • The current State of New Jersey sales and use tax project relating to pizzerias and other non-franchised fast food restaurants will be addressed.  Issues of privilege relating to accountants, the reporting requirements of the State of New Jersey to the Internal Revenue Service upon completion of audits and applicable statutes of limitation incident thereto, as well as ratios and other factors considered by the New Jersey Division of Taxation in handling these audits will be discussed.
     • Disclosure requirements relating to uncertain corporate tax positions will be addressed.

Robert E. Salad is President of the firm, as well as Co-Chairman of the Tax and Business Department.  His areas of expertise encompass almost all aspects of tax planning.  More specifically, he focuses his time on matters involving the representation of businesses and their principal owners including tax issues involving achieving business objectives as well as those tax issues which involve their personal lives.

Jill T. Ojserkis is a partner in the firm, as well as Chair of the Healthcare Law Practice Group.  While she concentrates her practice on Medical Staff/physician relations, governance issues for Hospitals and Medical Staffs, bioethical and transactional matters including managed care, she also provides administrative, regulatory, and ethical counsel; represents clients before federal, state, accreditation and regulatory agencies; and handles a wide variety of transactional, tax, and corporate matters.

Joseph Mahon is a partner in the firm.  His practice concentrates on matters involving Trusts and Estates with emphasis on the preservation and transfer of individual wealth and property while minimizing estate, gift and income taxes. His background also includes a wealth of experience in estate administration and litigation.

Ronald Wagenheim is a partner in the firm, as well as Co-Chairman of the Tax and Commercial Law Department. As a practitioner for over 36 years, he has devoted his practice exclusively to federal and state tax litigation, estate planning and administration and corporate and individual tax planning.
