There’s a divorce in this house, there’s a divorce in this house…All is not okurrr for Cardi B and Offset, who just announced their split. Cardi B, whose real name is Belcalis Marlenis Almanzar (not to be confused with all of the other Belcalis Marlenis Almanzars out there), may have a #1 hit song, but her joy is likely ‘offset’ by marital troubles with Offset, aka Kiari Kendrell Cephus. The couple shares a daughter named Kulture.
The WAP (don’t Google this) rapper reportedly filed for divorce in Georgia, right before the couple’s three year anniversary. “Baby mommy with the clip” is reportedly seeking child support…unsurprising considering in one of her songs she rapped “I got a baby, I need some money, yeah I need cheese for my egg.”
Just how much cheese can she (or he) get for her egg? Cephus and Almanzar are not getting divorced in New Jersey, but if they were, their case would fall into the “high income” category for child support. That means if the combined net yearly income of the parents is higher than $187,200, a court must apply the Child Support Guidelines up to the maximum amount, and then may supplement that amount with additional support based on remaining family income and other factors.
In NJ, Kulture would be entitled to be maintained in the lifestyle to which she was accustomed prior to the split and an analysis of the couple’s standard of living would be very important in determining how much child support either Cardi or Offset would receive. Economically privileged kids like Kulture are entitled to benefit from a parent’s financial achievement. That means if in a few years Cardi gets another Pepsi contract and her income skyrockets, child support could revisited.
Considering Cardi brags about how rich she is, regardless of who receives support, I suspect Gucci belts and Birkin Bags will be in Kulture’s future.
