The Greater Atlantic City Chamber of Commerce will honor Kenneth J. Calemmo, Jr., Chief Operating Officer of Cooper Levenson, at its Centennial Anniversary Installation & Awards Dinner on Thursday, March 27, 2014. Calemmo will receive the Chamber’s John G. FitzPatrick and Redenia Gilliam-Mosee Community Leader of the Year Award. The event also will honor Tony Rodio, Tropicana Entertainment as Business Leader of the Year.
The chamber has annually recognized the most influential individuals in the greater Atlantic City community since the mid-1960s. A committee composed of past recipients selects the honorees.
“Those of us who work with Ken know firsthand about his ability to inspire others with his dedication and leadership,” said Lloyd D. Levenson, CEO of Cooper Levenson. “He’s constantly seeking ways to help others. We are pleased and proud that he was recognized as exemplifying the high ideals set forth by the awards’ namesakes, John G. FitzPatrick and Redenia Gilliam-Mosee.”
As Chief Operating Officer of Cooper Levenson, Calemmo oversees all day-to-day operations of the law firm that has now grown to include 75 attorneys and offices in four states.
He serves as a Partner in Choose New Jersey, a nonprofit group that works with the NJ Economic Development Authority to nurture economic growth throughout New Jersey, works for a pro-business climate in New Jersey as Vice-Chairman to the New Jersey Organization for a Better State (NEWJOBS), and serves on the New Jersey Hall of Fame Foundation. Ken is the President of Main Street Atlantic City, a past Chairman of the Greater Atlantic City Chamber of Commerce, Chairman of the Atlantic City Community Development Corporation, serves on the Executive Board of the Atlantic Cape Community College Foundation, and is the new Chairman of “Let Us Eat – Please,” an organization that will serve more than 30,000 meals to Atlantic County students and their families each summer.
Ken holds a degree in public administration from the University of Scranton and lives in Sea Isle City with his wife Kathleen. They have two children – Kenneth III, who lives in Philadelphia, and Katherine, who lives in Manhattan, New York City.
