This program will cover the following:
- Ongoing audit activity both on the federal and state levels, including the responsibility of the preparer and/or the accountant who is representing the taxpayer in the audit.
- Topical bankruptcy issues, including the protection afforded to debtors by the automatic stay as well as significant developments in the preference area when claims are brought by trustees against vendors of products and services.
- A discussion of the ongoing issue of independent contractor versus employee status, including the ramifications of incorrectly categorizing an individual as an independent contractor for tax and labor purposes.
